Time Management Tips for The Busy Mom: Stretch Out Your Day to Build a Successful MLM Business

“I Don’t have time to…”

Have you heard this phrase from your team?

Maybe you have even said it yourself?

Our time is valuable and precious to us, especially in our Network Marketing Business. Many times we think that we don’t have time when we actually do. Here’s the thing, we’re trying to make MORE money so we can have MORE time, but when we don’t use our time wisely, we don’t make the money to reach that goal of: more time. 


It can be exhausting running on that hamster wheel right?!


In this Episode, I am going to give you my tips and tricks on how to stretch out your 24 hours to build a successful Network Marketing Business. I’ll start by telling you a little bit about my day. {Here's the Facebook Live I did and lets just say, I keep it REAL with you Heeler}

This morning I woke up and meal-prepped. I cooked 12 meals for myself, 18 meals for my honey bunches of oats, and 12 meals for my father-in-law. I used my time wisely this morning by killing two birds with one stone. While I was cooking, I was getting my content ready for the week, working on branding, getting ready to coach a new client, making team calls, and made a post on Facebook.

By the time I finished those to-do’s it was afternoon time. Then I went school shopping for my daughter. After that, I came home and made dinner. Once I was done eating, I did a Facebook Live. 

I managed to do all of these tasks, despite waking up late at 9:30am. I know you’re wondering, “How the heck do I get it all done without losing my mind?” LOL (I’ll admit, I was pretty exhausted)

So look, I’m a mom, the woman of the house, and I run two businesses. It’s all in my mind and I’m going to tell you why. 

When I first started out, I was LEGIT busy working a full-time job. I was literally working 60+ hours a week and a full-time mom. 


I wondered how I was: 

Going to make time for my family? 

Have enough time to build my business? 

Going to get everything I need to do for my business done?


The anxiety was starting to kick in….


Have you ever heard from a member of your team say that they just don’t have the time to go to an event, or maybe they don’t have the time to get on the training call, or they don’t have time to keep up with Facebook for their business. How many times have we heard things like that? 


Or maybe you yourself actually said one of those things before? No judgement here! Let’s keep it 100, I’ve been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt for two and a half years of my business. At the end of the day, those are all excuses.  I used to make the same excuses. 


The things that were important to me, I made sure to get done. But the things that were not important to me were not my main priority. I wanted to make six-figures but my business wasn’t important enough for me to make time for. At that time, I wanted to be a top leader, make money, and build a big team (that’s what we all want, right?). 


I just wasn’t making it a priority. If something is a priority to you and you want it that bad, I guarantee you will get it done with the same 24 hours that the rest of us have.

Take the excuses and kick them out of your system now! You do have time, you just have to make it a priority. When something is a priority, you have to get it done. When something is not a priority, you’re going to do what? Procrastinate. 

Remember, procrastination is a disease. Have you ever said something to yourself like, 


Okay, I’m going to clean my whole house today. I’m going to scrub the floors. I’m going to clean the oven. I’m going to clean the microwave. I’m going to sweep. I’m going to clean those fans. I’m going to do all the laundry. I’m going to clean out my drawers. I’m going to Spring clean even though its Fall.



You get super excited and pump yourself up. Then all of a sudden you’re cleaning a certain area when the ADD kicks in and you move to something else, without finishing the first area you started to clean. Have you ever done that before? I know I have! Then I realize that I actually didn’t clean anything, but instead just made a bigger mess.


Let me tell you why that happens. 


There’s a whole lot of psychology behind it, believe it or not. Tony Robbins talks about it-specifically mastering your time. He says: 


“Your time has an emotion connected to it.”


So when I’m going to clean the house, I get anxiety. I get excited at first because I really think I’m going to get it done, but then I think about the process of cleaning my house, and then the anxiety kicks in. This means that the emotion that I’m attaching to cleaning is anxiety. When I start cleaning the house, I get overwhelmed.    


Have you ever had so much to do that you felt totally overwhelmed?


You say you’re going to do it but when you get in the action of doing it, you start to freak. You’re overwhelming yourself because of the crappy emotion that you’ve attached to that task, whether you realize it or not. I’m talking about emotions like anxiety, fear, or just a feeling of blah attached to that task.


Now think of this in context to your business. You’re thinking about the process of building a big business and all the work that goes with it. Instead of focusing on the end goal and the small little tasks that it takes to get you there, and instead of attaching feelings of excitement and anticipation to those tasks, you’re attaching negative feelings like fear and anxiety to them and not getting anything done in your business.

So let’s say you only have 1 hour a day to actually build your business. Ask yourself what emotion you’re attaching to reaching that goal. If you were given the opportunity to quit your job and build your business full-time, and the emotion you have about building your business was crap, and you had no belief in yourself or your business model, you’re still going to “not have time” because the emotion your connecting to it is negative. This WILL lead you to feeling overwhelmed. 


So here’s the deal, when I first started making six-figures over three and a half years ago in Network Marketing I sold my business and wasn’t working in Corporate America anymore, I was super excited. (If you are, you would love to check out this blog, “5 Things You Need to Build Your MLM Business While Having a Full Time Job”)

I thought,now that I have all day while my daughters at school and I have nobody bothering me, and I don’t have a boss over my shoulder breathing down my neck, and I don’t have deadlines, I’m going to rock this business and take it to that next level.”



Here’s what actually happened. The first day I decided it was not a good day because of x, y, and z reasons. The next day I thought, I’ll do it tomorrow. Then the day after that, I’d do a little bit, but then back off from it completely. Before I knew it, 5 months had passed!


Eventually I stopped and looked at my business and thought, Wait a minute, I could have been doing more during that time, but I wasn’t.” The reason? Because my emotions surrounding my to-do list were negative. “Tomorrow” was my favorite excuse in the book. Realistically, if you were home and had 24 hours to work on building your business, it still wouldn’t be enough if you have the same excuses. 

Let’s think about it from our prospect’s side. They’re BUSY people that don’t have the time to build their at-home businesses. They are telling you that they don’t have time because they really believe they don’t have time and they’re thinking, 

‘How will I have the time to build a successful home business when I don’t even have time to breathe as it is!’ 

The thought alone gives them anxiety. They’re not lying when they say they don’t have time. They are just attaching anxiety to the idea of building a business. The truth is this, they absolutely have time. We are all dealing with the same 24 hours here!

I get more done in 3 hours than I do in 24. The bottom line is that it’s all about where I am focusing my energy in those 3 hours. The reason? I know that if I only have 3 hours to accomplish x, y, and z, I better be super focused, stick to the basics, and not overwhelm myself. Making sense yet?


You have to leave the “tomorrow I’ll do it” at the door if you want to get it done. More importantly, you have to make that shift if you want to be successful in this industry.



So here’s the deal. To be successful in building your business, remember these 4 Heeler Hacks:

  1. Master Your Time: Ask yourself what your priorities are. If building your business is important to you but there is no belief behind it, the emotion you’re attaching to that goal is not time-specific. There’s no time stamp on it. This will bring you to working your business out of desperation and a new emotion will be created around the idea that you “don’t have time”. Remember, time is an emotion!


  1. Believe in Yourself: If you don’t believe in yourself and the fact that you can have success, and you don’t take the small actions to get there, you’re going to create an emotion around your business that is crap. You have to avoid attaching this emotion to your business. You have to be connected to your business and feel your business. You’ve got to build that belief in yourself guys. You feel me?


  1. Personal Development: This is a big one. I do personal development every day. Don’t have time for personal development? Yes you do! If you drive a car, you’ve got plenty of time. There are tons of personal development podcasts that you can listen to as you drive. There’s always time for personal development. Build up the belief in yourself, your business model, and the industry. Once that belief is there, your going to build up your confidence and make it a priority. This will make you feel good about building your business and let you have fun with it.


  1. Your “Why”:  Your why is going to drive you to build a successful business I promise you this! If your why puts you in desperation mode, your emotion attached to your business isn’t empowering or inspiring. Of coarse you don’t have time if it’s not a priority. Your why has to be bigger than your cry.


Remember to start by creating a checklist and completing the small tasks first. This will change the emotions that you’re attaching to your business. I want you to know that you DO have time to build your business. Trust me heelers, I’ve been there. 

Last, I will leave you with something I learned from Tony Robbins. 


Change is not the ability, it’s the motivation or drive.” 


Change is important but not always easy. Making a change is something I’ve struggled with my whole life. My mom pointed it out to me. She said, “Change is something that’s really difficult for you.” 


I even got the Chinese symbol for change tattooed on my arm when I was 19. I said to myself that if I have this on my arm, I can remind myself that when I’m going through a change I don’t have to freak out. I wanted it to be a constant reminder.  (No, I am not suggesting to get a tattoo.  LOL)


When I look back on how far I’ve come from 19 to 34 years old with change, motivation, and drive I realized one important thing. This includes all areas in my life and especially my Network Marketing Business. I created an emotion around the time of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be without working in desperation mode. I realized that my drive is what helped me with the change. 


It wasn’t a skill or an ability. 

It was my mindset and the shift that I made once I understood what was valuable to me and what was a priority.
