In this episode, I get the opportunity to chat with Frazer Brookes.
I started to learn from Frazer was about 2 years ago. His content blew me away and I knew I had to learn from this STUD.
I had just started branding when we met and I really love how real and raw he is when putting out the information. He’s just like me because he doesn’t beat around the bush. He actually brings the goods!
Frazer and I ended up connecting through social media. He was the first to build an insane amount of humans within his network marketing business.
In 5 years, he built 300,000 customers on social media! I have learned immensely from him and I’m so excited to share his expertise with you guys today.
When Frazer first got started in this business in 2010, the masses were telling him DON’T do it (I’ve been there and it is not fun). He was told that social media was not for network marketing because it was a belly to belly business. He was determined to prove them all wrong and he did. Now he’s killing it.
The key in network marketing is not being an influencer or a leader, but being a MENTOR and that’s keeping it one hundred with you guys.
If you do all the work, get all the information in front of someone, and then get ghosted, what went wrong? It could be a few reasons. It could have been the way you presented the information. It could have been that you treated the person more like a transaction, instead of making a connection with them.
According to Frazer, there are 3 types of people you typically deal with when trying to get people on board in this business. The first is the honest person.
This is the type of person who gives it to you straight. They may say something along the lines of, Listen this just isn’t for me. The second is the rude person.
They may say something like, I’m not interested so I don’t care. Leave me alone. The third is the polite type of person who doesn’t want to hurt your feelings, but doesn’t want to join either. They might say something like, I really love the information, but it’s just not for me at this time.
If someone is going to be really rude to you when you approach them about an opportunity, do you really want them in the business? When you’re dealing with getting ghosted, you could reach out with a message like,
“Hey Betty, I noticed that you haven’t responded to my last message. Just touching base to see if you’re really busy or if you’re not interested RIGHT NOW. No worries either way.”
The “right now” piece is very important because it doesn’t cut you off from that person forever. Just because you strike out the first few times, it doesn’t mean you won’t hit a home run in the fourth inning boo boo.
What if someone tells you that they’re too busy or not interested right now? Just respond with something like,
“No worries. Do you mind if I keep you posted on what’s going on down the road?”
This is so simple but it works really well and gives you the encouragement to kick up your game. In Frazer’s experience, letting someone know you will keep them in the loop gives you less no’s. Then, once you circle back to that person, it’s a chance for you to reintroduce the opportunity or product that you’re selling.
Attraction marketing is amazeballs, but has also made people lazy. You still have to start a conversation and follow up. If you don’t message someone and throw that fear out the window, you won’t get the sale. Don’t overthink it either.
You don’t have to have a long ass message when it comes to your pitch. Short and sweet makes your voice stronger. Don’t get too hung up on the result because network marketing is an ACTIVITY BASED business. Everybody’s activity is going to have a result at a different time and the level of result is going to be different for everyone. Everyone’s journey is different.
Understand that there will be ups and downs in this business. Anyone who has had major success in network marketing will all tell you the same thing. Leadership is created when there is a dip downward in your business.
What if you’re in a scenario where you’re talking to someone who is asking you a million questions? There are two ways you can respond to save yourself a lot of time.
First: Is the answer to your question going to get you to make a decision today?
Second: Is there anything else you need to know right now in order to get started today? At the end of the day, you’re looking for serious decision makers, not curious people asking a million and one questions.
When it comes to closing the deal, it’s super important to follow up every three months. Most people will say no or ghost you the first time because they want to figure out what it is that you’re doing. There are some people who want to work with you under their terms. This is why it’s critical to create scarcity and urgency Heeler.
A lot of closing the deal is eliminating the maybe’s, especially when you’re dealing with people who are on the fence. There are three ways to create scarcity and urgency.
One thing you can do is let the person know that you’ve freed up the next three days in your schedule to get them started fast. Another thing you can do is is ask them, “What’s the worst that can happen?”
This way you can get an idea of what their genuine fears are about joining. You can even flip it afterward to What’s the best that can happen? The last way you can create a sense of scarcity and urgency is to promote and close around the promotion.
This would mean saying something like, I’m reaching out to you again because right now I’m running a promotion to join the team and buy a pack and I will include a bonus pack. A bonus product could be something as simple as a PDF on how to get your Instagram started.
If you’re getting ghosted, don’t get discouraged. Look at the way you’re presenting yourself and the opportunity. Are you connecting with that person? If not, circle back in a few months and try to make a connection.
You will deal with 3 different types of people: the honest person, the rude person, and the polite person.
If they’re rude, you don’t want to do business with them anyways so… BYYYEEE. Make sure you’re following up every 3 months and you’re creating a sense of scarcity and urgency.
