In this episode, we get to hear from Kimberly Olson, a total rockstar in our Leader Lab. Most of the time we’re scratching our heads looking for more people to talk to, when the fact is that they’re right at our fingertips within our current network.
In the beginning, Kimberly was a lot like me. She had two toddlers and a full time job. She missed her baby’s first steps.
She was just trying to make it all work while things felt like they were falling apart around her. I’ve been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt.
Mom guilt 😓 is a very real monster that many of us have experienced.

One day after a very long day at work, she was sobbing and praying 🙏🏻 in her car. She asked God to show her the way because she felt overworked, over tired, and under appreciated.
The next day, Kimberly was tagged in one of my videos. I was able to inspire her to dive right into this business. This is why I do what I do!

1.) When You Get a New Customer, Send them a Hand Written Thank You Note 📝:
When is the last time you got a hand written thank you note?
There’s something about getting a personal note that makes people feel good. If you’ve never thanked your customers, bust out the Holiday cards and get to writing.
Knock them out before the holidays. Loving 💞 on your customers goes a long way.
One of my FAVS place to create customization cards to send easily from my computer is definitely AM Cards. They have templates to use or you can create your own!

2.) Take Care of Your Customers Like You’re Customer Service 🤗:
Try to take care of customers YOURSELF to the best of your ability. Also, go ahead and make a note to follow up after a new customer has received their product.
You can follow up with something like 👇
“Hey (name) did you get your product yet? Awesome. I’m going to tag you in (blank) because it’s really going to help you in (blank).”
You could refer them back to a FB group. If you’re in Beauty, you should have a Beauty group. If you’re in Health, you should have a Health & Wellness group.
Whatever it is, you need one place for your customers and prospects to be. Letting them know you’re going to tag them is super important, because then they accept ✔️ the invitation into the group. It’s that simple!
3.) Follow Up and Check on Your Customers:
If your customer was a friend before they became a customer, talk to them like a friend 👯. If you’re only treating them like a customer, they’re going to want to get as far away from you as possible.
Look at their social media and see what’s going on. Asking them, “How are your boys?” is much better than, “You have to try this new product.”
There’s the initial follow up, but you also want to make sure you’re periodically checking in on your customers.
A rule of thumb is every other time you check in, make it personal and social (instead of just business). This way, if you do a more product-driven check in, it’s more genuine.✨

4.) Explain Your Referral Program:
Don’t just assume that your customer knows and understands your referral program.
The key is to validate that the customer loved the product when you do your check-in with them. Once you’ve been given the green light 💚, you can let them know about your referral program.
Using this method, Kimberly had people adding her to email lists, group texts, and through social media too.
The ways to connect with new people are endless.
5.) Ask Them to Do a Post:
Reach out to your current customer base and give them an example of how to share on their page to promote your product or promotion you’re running.
You could also do this if someone reaches out to you with a positive review or photo of your product 📷. Then ask them if they could make a post or add it to their story and tag you in it.
People trust their friends and family. If they're promoting your product you both win.
You win because you’re gaining new customers and they win because they are getting some sort of referral points. Helllllerrrr? Win Win!🙌
6.) Ask Them to Do a Party/ Online Event:
This means having an online event that you or someone else is hosting and going live for about 15 minutes. You would share about how great things are going, the product, and how people can enter a giveaway. 🥰
You can do some type of a giveaway in the online event. You can even go to one of your customers and ask them to host an online event for you.
7.) Ask Them if They’ve Ever Done the Business Side:
If your customer is already sharing with people about the product and people are responding, ask them if they would consider joining.
Flip that button and ask them if they want to upgrade and get commission as well. Don’t do this with a brand new customer, but instead with someone you know loves the products.
Reach out to these people first because you don’t want to scare away your customers.
To sum it up:
1.) Send an initial thank you note right away so your customer gets it fairly quickly after receiving their order.
2.) Check on them to make sure they’ve received their order okay.
3.) Tag them in something that provides them information or value on the product they bought. A Facebook group that has to do with the industry you’re in works perfect.
4.) Follow up again a week or a month later to remind customer about how the referral program works.
5.) Ask them to do a post and tag you in it. This works like a charm and the hot leads start rolling in.
6.) Ask them to do a party or online event. Keep it limited to 15 minutes. Do not have a four hour event because ain’t nobody got time for that 🙅♀️!
You can book four parties in a night and walk away with 30-40 hot leads!
7.) Ask them if they’re interested in the business side. Avoid signing customers up to join if they’re only in it for the discount. It never works out. Don’t do it. Just let them know it’s better to keep them as an awesome customer (they can keep referring people if they’re in it for the discount). Do this with people who are making posts, tagging people on the products, and hosting parties. These are the signs that give you the green light to ask.
Kimberly has upgraded more people than she can count recruiting customers this way. It’s a seven step process that works every time.
It’s especially helpful to use if you feel you’re not a strong recruiter. So dive right in, implement these steps, and watch the hot ♨️ leads pour in!
