In this episode, we’re going to discuss social media platforms. There are so many types of social media it can make your head spin. 🥴
Facebook™, Instagram™, Twitter™, YouTube™, Pinterest™, Snapchat™, and the list goes on. With 2020 around the corner, I want to talk specifically about which platforms you should be focusing on in the new year.
As a busy mom with multiple businesses, the last thing I want to do is learn 15 more social media platforms when I’m already slaying one. If you’re not slaying any social media platforms right now, I want to help you figure out where your focus should be in 2020.
I’m going to keep it 100 with you guys because one of these platforms I wasn’t really excited about…until now.😏

You may have noticed that people have been moving away from professional looking videos and more toward real, raw, and relatable content that people can connect with. 👏
For me, when I see top influencers doing really professional videos I get intimidated.
One of the things I started doing in 2019 that I’m going to continue to do in 2020 is keeping my content as real and relatable as I possibly can. I scaled my business to seven-figures without the super professional look, which means you can do the same!
I want to talk to you about three platforms I’m going to be spending my time in 2020. This doesn’t mean I’m going to stop showing up on other platforms or stop repurposing content.
What it means is that my focus in 2020 is going to be in the following three areas. So come join me on this journey and let’s dive right in!
1. Instagram™ Stories
First of all, Instagram™ Stories is kind of a no-brainer. When people are moving towards real, raw, and relatable, Instagram™ Stories is the perfect place to start.
Yes, YouTube™ and Facebook™ also have Stories, but over half a billion humans are watching 👀 Instagram™ Stories everyday. If that’s where the people are, that’s where we want to go.
I can show up in my PJs with no make up on. More importantly, I can show up and just be me. It’s a great way for you to showcase behind the scenes 🎬.
You can share things like what’s going on with you as a mom. You can share what’s going on in your business. This will help you build a deeper connection with your audience.
What kept me from slaying on Instagram™ in the beginning was all the beautiful imagery I was seeing.
I’m not an artist or a designer which made it intimidating for me.
I would see so many perfect and edited photos and think that I couldn’t do it 😔.
Instagram™ Stories takes the intimidation away and allows us to show up as who we are. What’s more beautiful than that? The reality is that people can’t relate to perfection because nobody is perfect.
More people are drawn to influencers who show their true selves. Real, raw, and relatable are going to trump in 2020.
What types of things should you be sharing on Instagram Stories?
Who should you talk to?
For those of you who don’t know, I host a membership community called the Elite Academy and every week there is a theme to help you decide what kind of content you should be posting on social media.
One of the things that makes Instagram Stories so cool is that it’s between you and your audience. It’s also cool because people can respond directly to your stories. This allows you to create a relationship that is based on connection. When I posted a Story about my baby Madelyn being at the doctor with a stomach bug, I got an overwhelming response that allowed me to connect even deeper with my audience.

2. Instagram™ Live
Let’s talk about Instagram Live. At first, I didn’t understand or use it. I thought it was all about Facebook Live.
Guess what? 2020 is creeping up and it’s time to shift + pivot. I have made a vow to utilize Instagram Live 🎥 in 2020 and hope you will too!
I’ve found two ways to monetize Instagram Live using REPURPOSE and CONNECTION. When it comes to repurposing, IG Live allows you to save the vertical video after you’re finished.
Then, you can take that one piece of content and break it up into smaller pieces. You can even repurpose it as an IGTV and create series!
These smalls snip its can also be added to your stories to drive people back to your IG Live.

Now let’s talk about connection.
If you can sift through the tons of humans and find a few you want to work with, you can scale your income and your reach. 👊
You don’t always want to attract the masses. You want to create content that speaks to one human you can truly impact. When you solve the one problem that someone has, you can build a deeper connection and 10x your impact which will 10x your wallet. 💸
IG Live features like the Q&A and being able to bring someone else on will allow you to showcase your talent and gifts✨.
For example, on certain days of the week in 2020 you’re going to see morning coffee with me called Sip and Slay. This could be a coaching call live, behind the scenes, Q&A, etc.
The best content is real, raw, and relatable and will inspire a deeper connection with my audience.

It’s so important to showcase the struggles, the obstacles, and the wins.
Let’s talk about TikTok. I used to not see the value in this, but for 2020 I’m changing my tune. It’s a mega trend right now and you can leverage it. It’s funny, entertaining, and quick content that can make you stand out.
When I saw one of my mentors on TikTok, a part of me wondered why they were wasting their time. On the other hand, I’m consistently thinking 💭 about them and thinking about the things they’re doing.
What does this mean? It means it’s working in the sense that it’s allowing me to REMEMBER that person.
Branding means standing out and being remembered in someone’s mind. That’s exactly what TIkTok allows you to do.
This platform is helping people show their creativity, have some fun, and truly stand out. It’s an amazing way to showcase some fun and entertainment.
In 2020, I’m going to use this platform more. If anything, I can get some great content for my IG Stories.
To sum it up, I will be using 3 new social media platforms in 2020:
1.) Instagram Stories: Real, raw, and relatable is where it’s at in 2020. It’s a place you can show up without having to be super professional. This is a space where you can show up as the real you and leave the beautiful, edited pictures at the door.
2.) IG Live: You can monetize IG Live by repurposing and connecting. You can repurpose by taking an IG Live and cutting it into snip its. These snip its can be added to your stories to drive people back to your IG Live. You can connect by creating content that really speaks to people and inspires them.
3.) TikTok: I never thought I would be promoting this platform but it’s hilarious and can really make you stand out in someone’s mind. After all, that’s what branding is all about and TikTok is a super amazing way to create brand awareness.
These are the 3 platforms I’ve committed to using in 2020.
It’s important to get outside your comfort zone if you want to reach a wider audience!
